About Me
I’m Sam Smith - a data leader who helps early-stage startups make sense of their numbers, move faster, and make better decisions.
I have a Master’s degree in Business Analytics from MIT, and over the past seven years I’ve built, scaled, and led data initiatives across both Fortune 1 (Walmart) and YC/Sequoia-backed startups. I’ve made a career out of turning tricky, open-ended business problems into insights and action.
My approach is simple: scope fast, ship quickly, and iterate. I keep things lightweight, documented, and founder-friendly, so your team can self-serve easily after our engagement finishes.
I’m comfortable designing warehouse architecture in Snowflake or dbt, modeling in Python or R, or building out reporting assets in Looker, Tableau, or Sigma. But more than just tool implementation, I care about building systems that scale and decisions that stick.
I’m based in Denver, CO, and I work remotely with teams across time zones.
